During this half term we visit Hook Court!
We also explore 1066 and the Norman Conquest considering why others would want to invade Britain. We look at different battles during this time and think about the reasons for the their outcomes. We explore Norman Castles and study their importance and understand what life was like under the feudal system, comparing it to our lives today. We learn about the Domesday Book and why this continues to be of use to us today. We link this topic to our D&T learning where we design and make catapults and in Art we re-create part of the Bayeux Tapestry.
In Geography we look at the Local Area and identify how London has changed over time. We also cast our net wider and look at the UK, its geographical regions and what the differences are between the British Isles, GB and the UK. We plan a journey from London to Hastings and compare how the features of Hastings are different to London.
We cover 'Sound' in Science. This is a very practical unit of work where we generate and answer many enquiry questions to help us understand how sound is made, how it travels and what the differences are between volume and pitch. We draw conclusions based on our results which helps increase our scientific knowledge.
We continue with our Wider Opps and develop our cello and violin musical skills.
PE compromises of Dance and Rugby.
In RE we the explore 'Approaches to Life' theme to understand the difference between religious and secular events and how Christians mark death and the importance of Heaven. We also learn about the different ways Christians prepare for Easter.
Our French knowledge continues to grow as we learn about possessive adjectives and numbers.
The theme in PHSE this half term is 'Good to be Me' where we reflect on moral, spiritual and cultural issues to understand other people's experiences helping us to show empathy towards others.
