Towers, Tunnels & Turrets - Autumn 2In this section...
The second part of the Autumn term continues with a History focus as we learn about 'Castles and Castle Life'. We learn about different homes people live in today and compare this to castles. We concentrate on the Tower of London using our visit to learn about the main events in its history. We look at the features of a castle and who lived and worked in them, comparing what life was like for the inhabitants. We link our learning to Computing where we research (using search engines) different castle types comparing the similarities and differences and present a short multimedia presentation.
We use our theme to learn about winding mechanisms to design and make a Drawbridge or Rupunzel's Tower.
RE focuses on Festival of Light linked to Diwali and Christmas where the meanings of each week of Advent are explored.
Our Music focuses on performance as we prepare for our Christmas productions.
PE lessons comprise of imoves and Games, focusing on the skills throwing, catching and striking.
In Art we learn how to shade and create layers through using different grades of pencils, charcoal and pastels.
During this half term in PHSE we explore the theme 'Getting on and Falling out'. We focus on bullying and friendship, thinking about feelings associated with anger and how our behaviour can make someone else feel. We learn about keeping ourselves safe by using our words to communicate.
