Voices In The Park & Blood Heart - Summer 1In this section...
This is a Science based theme where we focus our learning on the function of the heart and how to keep our hearts healthy. We find out about blood and its function as well as understand the importance of water to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Throughout this topic, we answer scientific enquiry questions and gather data to support our findings to present to an audience. We also explore how drugs can affect the way our bodies function.
We link our D&T work to this theme as we evaluate, plan and design a healthy heart meal considering how to maintain hygiene and use kitchen utensils safely. Linked to this, we research different adverts as part of our Computing work in order for us to design and create our own adverts linked to healthy eating and lifestyle.
We concentrate on learning verbs in French and in Music we study the work of Carol King.
The theme for this half term's PHSE is 'Relationships' where we talk about death, feelings associated with forgiveness and how to maintain friendships. We also spend some time considering 'dares' and how to manage these as we begin to prepare for transition to secondary school.
In RE we learn about Islam and the importance of the Five Pillars to Muslims and their daily life.
PE comprises of health, fitness and mindfulness and Rounders.
Our Art focus this half term is memories and studying the work of Matisse. We use his ideas to create some pieces of work of our own.
